Light in the Darkness started playing Christian cover songs and praise songs in Matt's garage in Hesperia, California from 2000 to 2003. When Matt went to school at UC Davis, the band could only perform during holidays. Then the band broke-up from 2003 to 2007 until Jimmy returned from the Navy. Over the years, the band has performed at a number of shows throughout the high desert area of Southern California. The band’s name is self explanatory, taken directly from the Bilble and what God has called His people to be, "Light in the Darkness". The band has written at least 10 original songs reflecting upon being that light in the darkness to others. Their music lyrics include passages from Scripture, prayers to God, and the importance of waiting on God and obeying His leading. Their songs offer encouragement through reminders that God is there and that He cares for us no matter who we are.
